The Pet Porte Smart Flap has arrived! With all the features you’ve come to love about the original Pet Porte microchip catflap, including selective entry, night mode, vet mode and more, the Smart Flap builds upon the strengths of this fantastic product to bring you the ultimate solution in automatic catflaps. As well as being powered by a low-voltage power supply, the Smart Flap has a back-up battery facility to prevent your cat being locked out during a power cut, and this battery can also be used to power the Smart Flap in its basic mode. A new locking mechanism improves reliability, and a draft excluder is incorporated as per customer demand! Pet owners can now also choose a ‘power-off’ state for the Smart Flap, so that a cut in power to the Smart Flap will result in either an automatic-lock mode or in the Smart Flap remaining open. Watch this space as, later this year, further features will be added to the Smart Flap such as PC control and monitoring, a remote control and a new Selective Exit mode to compliment the existing Selective Entry settings. Possibly best of all, the Smart Flap has been designed to fit a round hole of 21cm diameter which makes it far easier to fit in glass, as well as a square hole of side length 169mm to fit to wood or PVC with the addition of an extra screw hole. |

Great except not weatherproof at all ken | 13/12/2011 |
This might not matter to people that live in places with great weather but its really cold here and the cold air runs right through this thing from the outside. Everything I read promised that this would be well sealed to prevent air from leaking through, they talk about how it has a 'draught excluder'. They need to go back to the drawing board on this feature because it needs major improvement. Otherwise it seems like it will probably be a good product.

This does the job but on occasion malfunctions so it's hard to set the correct setting. We bought this version in summer 2010 as the upgrade to PC control and single cat exit was promised that year but it still does not have a release date if you contact the company, so don't buy it based on the promised upgrade - it may never happen.
