Purina Veterinary Diet UR ST/OX Feline Dietetic food with urine acidifying properties and low level of magnesium for the nutritional treatment and dissolution of struvite stones. Medical Indications: Struvite associated FLUTD. Medical Contraindications: History of calcium oxalate urolithiasis, Simultaneous use of urine acidifiers, Growth & Reproduction. Urinary acidification - reduces struvite crystals and uroliths formation. Increased potassium - avoids risks of hypokalemia. High digestibility - compensates for loss of appetite in some cats. Increased taurine - a diet adapted to cats specificity. Target Urinary pH (ad libitum) 6.1 (standard deviation 0.2). As with any diet change, it is better to switch gradually over the course of five to ten days. Warming food can help enhance palatability for anorectic cats. You should provide the cat with small quantities of food several times a day in a quiet environment. Increased water consumption can help dilute the urine and further decrease the conditions that are conducive to crystal formation. The recommended period of use is 5 to 12 weeks. Urethral plugs and FLUTD can result in a life threatening blockage of the bladder in male cats. If a male cat shows signs of straining to urinate they should be examined by a veterinary surgeon prompty in order to assess urethral patency. Not what you're looking for?
