What is Verm-X?

Verm-X is a 100% natural formulation that controls internal parasites whilst being gentle on the animal’s gut and digestive system. Verm-X is available as an innovative, functional, daily super-premium crunchie.

Verm-X Crunchies are designed to be fed every day throughout the year. This means that you do not need to buy additional reward or treat products for your dogs as our Verm-X formulation can act as a traditional treat whilst functioning as a continual internal parasite control. 
Verm-X Liquid for Dogs is designed to be added to the feed for three consecutive days per month. We offer this more economical but equally effective alternative for larger kennels and working dog environments.

How many Verm-X Dog Crunchies do I feed?

Feed every day throughout the year.
Small breeds (e.g. Jack Russell):  2 per day
Medium breeds (e.g. Labradors):   4 per day
Large breeds (e.g. Newfoundland): 6 per day

Available in 5 sizes: 100g (contains approx 60 crunchies), 325g (contains approx 196 crunchies), 650g (contains approx 392 crunchies), 1.3kg (contains approx 784 crunchies) and 2.6kg (contains approx 1568 crunchies).

100g will last one small dog one month.

Ingredients include:
Brown Rice, Poultry Meal, Refined Chicken Fat, Beet Pulp, Potato, Potato Starch, Verm-X Canine Blend, Brewers Yeast, Chicken Liver, Salmon Oil, Seaweed, Green Tea Extract, Prebiotic FOS, Prebiotic MOS, Minerals and Vitamins.

1. What is Verm-X?
Verm-X is a natural herbal blend for the control of internal parasites.  The Verm-X range has individual products to cater for most animals.

2. How does Verm-X work?
Verm-X is fed over a period of time (see each pack for details) and works to create an environment in the gut and digestive system that is uninhabitable to parasites. The regular feeding of Verm-X ensures the effectiveness is ongoing.

3. Where is Verm-X made?
Verm-X is a British company, based in Somerset and all products are produced in the UK. The facilities where Verm-X is made are non-GM and are FEMAS and ISSO 9001:2008 registered.

4. For what animals is Verm-X made?
Separate products are available for: Alpacas and Llamas, Caged Birds, Cats, Cows, Dogs, Game Birds, Garden Birds, Sheep and Goats, Horses and Ponies, Pigs, Poultry, Rabbits (and other rodents), Racing Pigeons and Raptors.
For some species there is a choice of forms available, e.g., Verm-X for Poultry is available in both pelleted and liquid form. Both our website and our brochure give full details of the ranges available.

5. What internal parasites are Verm-X products designed for?
Verm-X focuses on all commonly known internal parasites. Verm-X is not made for external parasites.

6. My animal is pregnant. Can I still use Verm-X on her? Also, is it safe to use when she’s whelping?
Yes, Verm-X is completely safe to use throughout pregnancy and also when the mother is feeding. Seek professional veterinary advice if you are concerned.

7. I have just bought my animal and do not know its history. What would you recommend?
Verm-X recommends that regular parasite counts are carried out as part of any good animal husbandry.
The results of such a test should indicate what steps to take.

8. Do herbal formulations work?
Verm-X consists of herbs that have been used for centuries as a natural way to repel and control internal parasites. Prior to the 1930s there were no petroleum-based man-made products. There were just herbs. Verm-X has made available formulations that have stood the test of time for being effective remedies for a far longer period of time than modern man-made products. Verm-X is therefore ideal for those wishing to find a natural way to address an important area of animal husbandry.

9. How often is Verm-X used?
It depends on the product and species. It is important therefore that the instructions that are on every label are read and understood. Some of the Verm-X products are used for a few days each month, others are formulated to use each day, for example the Verm-X Daily Dog Crunchies.

10. Your product has garlic in it. I thought this was toxic to Cats and Dogs?
The Verm-X range does contain garlic but the quantities are very small and therefore generally safe to use.

11. My dog has a gluten, wheat and cereal allergy and has to be fed a ‘sensitive’ type dog food.  Can I feed Verm-X?
Yes. Verm-X is gluten, wheat and cereal free and is an ideal product for animals with a sensitive digestive system.

12. My horse is prone to laminitis. Is Verm-X suitable?
Yes, Verm-X contains a lot of general health properties that can prove invaluable to horse owners looking to use the product on horses with a range of different sensitivities.
Along with parasite control properties Verm-X contains blood cleansing herbs and works gently on the animal’s digestive system.
Verm-X is used and supported by the Veteran Horse Society for this reason.

13. Can you tell me why we have to wait 21 days before carrying out a parasite check on a horse?
To get the most accurate reading it is important to wait 21 days from the last day Verm-X is fed. This is due to the slow working action of herbs (making Verm-X gentle on the animal’s system). Verm-X works by ‘building’ an environment in the gut which is inhospitable to internal parasites which can take several days.

14. Can I use Verm-X along with a conventional worming routine?
Yes. Verm-X can be used on its own all year round. It can also be used as part of a rotational programme.

15. Can I compete my horse whilst on Verm-X?
Yes. As Verm-X is 100% herbal and non-toxic, it does not contravene current FEI or Jockey Club rulings. However, as rulings continually change it is up to individual clients to check with their respective association.

16. Can resistance be built up against Verm-X?
We are unaware of any resistance to Verm-X. Although Verm-X has only been on the market since 2002, herbs have been used for centuries and, unlike pharmaceutical products, there is no resistance of which we are aware.

17. My chicken never leaves my garden. How could it have worms?
Chickens are just as at risk of internal parasites as all animals, particularly if they are kept in a more free range environment than battery hens. Sources of parasite infestations can be from contaminated soil or bedding, earthworms, insects, wild birds and other animals. It is also very important to be aware that parasites may be brought into a brood when purchasing or adopting new birds.

18. Is there any egg or meat withdrawal period when using Verm-X?
There is no egg or meat withdrawal on any product in the Verm-X range, unlike most chemical husbandry products.

19. What happens if my animal eats more than the recommended amount?
There have been situations where clients dogs have eaten a whole packet of Dog Crunchies and some dogs have even eaten a whole 750g pot of Verm-X Pellets for Poultry. In these types of scenarios the animals  are fine as the products are herbal and safe but should accidents like these occur, ensure your animal has plenty of fresh water to drink and do not be surprised if your animal has diarrhoea for a short time.

20. If my dog eats horse droppings from my horse that has just been fed Verm-X  does it have the same serious or even fatal effects that chemical products can have on dogs in this situation?
No. Verm-X is 100% herbal and does not pose a danger to your dogs.

21. Chemical alternatives may contain powerful drugs and may also have devastating effects on animals and children if administered incorrectly. Does Verm-X carry the same dangers?
No! Because Verm-X is 100% natural and herbal it does not carry the same dangerous effects that chemical alternatives carry if given incorrectly. Verm-X is safe to be handled by children when feeding their pets (always follow instructions on each pack). However we do not advise any careless use or storage of any product.
