Hills prescription diet canine z/d dog food is for the nutritional management of dogs with food allergy and intolerance. Food allergy and intolerance are potentially serious problems that can result in sensitive or irritated skin, coat and ear conditions or even digestive problems. Dogs that have food allergy or intolerance, also called adverse reactions to food, typically are having an abnormal response to the protein in the food.

Hills prescription diet canine z/d low allergen has been exclusively formulated by veterinarians with Hill’s Hydrolyzed Protein System*, a process that eliminates intact animal proteins and significantly reduces the possibility of an adverse reaction to food. Reactions usually occur as a result of beef, dairy products and wheat. Canine z/d Low Allergen eliminates these.

Indications:
- Food allergy or food intolerance (i.e Dietary sensitivity or Adverse reactions to food).
- Pruritic dermatitis and/or chronic otitis externa.
- Chronic gastroenteritis and/or colitis.

Not recommended for:
- Cats.
- Puppies.
- Pregnant or lactating bitches.

Additional information:
- Proteins with a molecular weight less than 10,000 daltons will escape detection by the immune system. The animal protein component (chicken) in Canine z/d Low Allergen is extensively hydrolysed to produce a maximum molecular weight of 3,000 Daltons. This is critical in avoiding dietary sensitisation or reaction.
- The other major ingredients are dried potato, potato starch and vegetable oil (purified to contain no protein).
- No other ingredient in the formula contains protein or has been documented as causing an allergic reaction in dogs.
- These features make Canine z/d Low Allergen ideal in helping to manage and eliminate such adverse reactions as nonseasonal pruritic dermatitis, chronic otitis externa, chronic gastroenteritis and chronic colitis (inflammatory bowel disease).

Hills prescription diet caine z/d key benefits:

Red setters with colitis
Sansue | 28/07/2010 |

My Red setter has chronic colitis the vet and I had gone through all the dog foods for this condition, even the Hills Z/D Ultra, all caused severe flare ups, the last one we tried was the Hills Z/D low allergen and it is fantastic, although he still has the condition it is much better. My friend also had a Red Setter with stomach problems and she swapped to Z/D low allergen on my recommendation and his problems have cleared up. I would highly recommend even though it is very expensive it is a lot cheaper than the vet bills!!

Hills Prescription diet ZD Low Alergen dog food
Les | 07/06/2010 |

After my young dog having had problems with looses stools and much straining, although he appeared well in herself, the continuing straining and stools which which were always loose, I knew there was a problem and took her to my Vet, who tested her for various diseases etc. and thankfully found nothing seriously wrong, he suggested I tried this food. I fed at 6.00 pm at noght and my 8.00 am the next day she did her first solid stool without any of the straining! She looks exceptionally well and although it is considerably more expensive than normal dog food, I would not consider changing it now. I have 5 dogs and if the others can sneek a bit of it they will, it must be very appetising!
