Cosequin RS for small dogs & large cats
Cosequin comes in several forms covering the needs of cats, small dogs, and large dogs.
Cosequin is one of the most popular choices today among veterinarians for older pets who are getting a little stiff in the joints and is designed to help support and maintain the health of your pet's joints and cartilage for more activity and a higher quality of life. The active ingredients in Cosequin include glucosamine hcl, chondroitin sulphate and manganese. Each main ingredient serves a unique purpose and it is the synergistic effect of these and other ingredients performing together, concurrently, that make it so effective. Other products may have some of the same ingredients but they may not be as effective as Cosequin due to the combination and synergistic effect of the ingredients being different.
As dogs age, it is common for their joints to become less flexible which impacts their mobility and quality of life. Cosequin RS is an exclusive formula for smaller dogs, to support and maintain the health of your pets joints. Each Cosequin RS capsule contains:
250mg - Glucosamine Hydrochloride 99+% pure
200mg - Chondroitin sulphate* 95% pure
3.2mg - Manganese (as Manganese Ascorbate)

Initial dosage - six weeks:
Under 5kg - 0.5-1 capsules per day (morning)
5-10kg - 2 capsules per day (1 morning/1evening)
For dogs over 10kg use Cosequin DS Double Strength capsules.
After the initial six week loading period, reduce dosage to maintenance level. This should be done gradually in 0.5-1 capsule steps, depending on the size of the pet. Do not alter dosage more than once a month. The capsules can be pulled apart and the contents sprinkled on the food. Wet or moist food is preferred to ensure that the entire amount is taken.
Also, an ingredient such as glucosamine may have the same name from product to product, but it may not have been produced by the same processes and standards that the glucosamine in cosequin is, and, may consequently not be as effective, an important reason to purchase a proven product that is produced under the highest standards and that has been shown to be highly effective. Also, the ingredients in Cosequin are designed to offer relief by actually improving the health of the cartilage matrix, whereas, some pain products, including steroids and NSAIDs, can actually damage it.
